P.03 - Projected Community
The development inserts itself into the existing community of Quail Valley Patio homes, north of William Cody's Robinson House in Missouri City, Texas. Life within the selfie-centric inhabitations is projected onto surrounding suburban homes and in the future may spread like a virus into the city to animate the skyline with projections of life within the dwellings.

Connection-Disconnection
When you are in public or private, with friends or alone, happy or sad, do you busy yourself with your cellphone? It seems that no matter what the emotion, it is difficult to distance ourselves from the cellphone.
Are we uncomfortable with the disconnection? Why must we constantly be bombarded with information on our phones, whether it be a news feed, social media notifications, or more? Modern society is instantly connected through the cellphone and internet. Do we listen to ourselves enough in the Iphone Era?
Must we always be connected? Can architecture influence this?

“As I enter a great architectural space, I hear
only my own heartbeat. The innate silence of the experience results from the
fact that it turns our attention to our own existence-I find myself listening
to my own being.”-Juhani Pallasmaa, 2012.

Parasitic Connections
Much like a parasite, our proposed community weaves and grows through the existing fabric of the sub-urban. Creating connections between public parks the growth of dis.PLAY.create fills every nook and cranny stitching together a new fabric of interconnected space.

Materiality: Petra Blaisse - Inside Outside
"The aesthetic and technical quality of the designs (curtains, floor, ceilings, walls, gardens, parks, landscapes) are closely related to the architectural context and atmosphere- melting into, complementing or challenging the architecture or the architectural environment. Taking care, at the same time, that they service the users in the best possible way."

What does living in community means? Are our needs of sharing our lives via social media applicable to our houses? Can privacy be transformed into a collective experience?
Excerpts from the book Intimacy and Isolation, by John G. McGraw:
"Insofar as intimacy requires actual physical presence of the individuals (...), technological means are useless to create any sort of actual literal heart-to-heart connectedness. Still,

Man and Space
"Building, Dwelling, and Thinking"
By Martin Heidegger in 1951.
A German Philosopher, 1889-1976.
"'When we speak of man and space, it sounds as though man stood on one side, space on the other. Yet space is not something that faces man. It is neither an external object nor an inner experience. it is not that there are men, and over and above them space...' As we enter an architectural space, an immediate unconscious projection, identification and exchange takes place; we occupy the space and the space settles in us. We grasp the space through our senses and we measure it with our bodies and movements. We project our body scheme, personal memories and meanings into space; the space extends the experience of our bodies beyond our skin, and the physical space and our mental space fuse with each other."

P.03 - Program Diagram
The design program of the prototype addresses the selfie centric
micro-society by providing them with 24-hour instant gratification via the
constant projection of life within the dwelling onto the surrounding community.
The inhabitation is designed for users to show off within designated areas
which are constantly being filmed and projected onto highly visible external
surfaces.

Mentor Thoughts: Go Hasegawa
"I think that trying to understand things you don't know about requires a great deal of energy. And once you come to understand something, it leads to something else. The effort to try and understand something is an extremely noble pursuit. And once you make this sort of effort, trying to understand something might even be more important than the things you actually understand (the content). On the other hand, although I want to understand things, I'm afraid of what I might find out; and I want to create things, but I'm afraid of actually creating them. This might be because after I understand something, I create something, and then I have the feeling that I won't be able to get away from it - ie., if I focus so singlemindedly on the things I understand and create, I might not be able to see anything else."

Finding Form
"Our times demand lighter, more energy-saving, more mobile and more adaptable, in short more natural buildings, without disregarding the demand for safety and security. This logically leads to the further development of light constructions, to the building of tents, shells, awnings and air supported membranes...Tomorrow's architecture will again be minimal architecture, an architecture of the self-forming and self-optimization processes suggested by human beings. This muse be seen as part of the new developing ecological ecological system of the people who have densely and peacefully settled the surface of the earth. It is an architecture that respects genuine traditions and the multiplicity of forms in animate and inanimate nature."

Le Parc de la Villette
Statements by Bernard Schumi in the book, Cinegramme Folie Le Parc de la Villette:
The superimposition of the three systems (points, lines, surfaces) creates the park as it generates a series of calculated tensions which reinforce the dynamism of the place. Each of the three systems displays its own logic and independence
